office interior design

The project started from the idea of a new space that does not take into account established clichés, that is very different from the “home office” and that uses atypical materials. The emphasis was placed on the need to socialize, the spaces being reconfigured in this sense, interaction with others being one of the main reasons for returning to the office.

The building located in the center of Cluj has 5 floors and a terrace on the top level with wide views of the historic center. The project aimed to create an “urban oasis” with diverse and interconnected spaces, an environment defined by natural materials, with tactile, imperfect and unusual surfaces for the established image of the office. Although the plan is similar on each floor but with different compartments, we worked with distinct materials such as paper, wood and brick. These materials were chosen for their tactile and visual qualities and are directly related to the company’s values and activities.
Due to the company’s involvement in the Apuseni Marathon, the integration of specific wooden elements into the mountain landscape was sought. The opportunity to reuse something already existing arose after volunteering at the church in Bocșita, where the Ambulance for Monuments Sălaj started an intervention to completely replace the shingle covering to make the church safe. The shingle was sorted and what could be salvaged was integrated into the design of certain social areas.
Stone was another material used for access and social areas, in the form of river stone paving or finished tiles. In order to delimit certain multifunctional areas, movable walls on a honeycomb system, made of paper, were introduced. Brick veneers recovered from demolitions were incorporated into the design to mark the office’s connection to the city. The terrace on the top level is one of the favorite places of the employees, with an open panorama towards the historical center of Cluj. Plants play an important role in the design, with large plant pots being integrated into each space.
The entrance area wanted an informal and unconventional reception, a relaxed space where the visitor is not stopped by the barrier of a front desk. This space is airy and calm, and the centerpiece, a multifunctional table, plays a central role, being able to be used in various ways outside of the traditional reception function. The main structure of the table is a tall pot, giving the illusion of floating , the other supporting elements being transparent glass.
The office layout concept offers a variety of workspaces for employees to choose from, from four-seater breakout rooms to open-plan spaces. On one of the floors, a continuous countertop has been adopted that passes from one space to another. Plants integrated into office tables allow employees to feel the presence of nature and at the same time effectively improve the indoor microclimate and work atmosphere.
